We are pleased to offer a program for farmers and ranchers.  Coverage for Pasture, Rangeland, and Forage is a USDA reinsured and subsidized risk management tool offered to farmers and ranchers who rely on pasture, rangeland, or forage for the haying and/or grazing. It offers coverage for a significant reduction in either the vegetative index (Oklahoma) or rainfall amount (Texas) in a given geographic area (or grid) containing the insured's property. It indemnifies the insured in the event a grid's index is below the normal trigger grid index. This is a pilot program and not available in all counties. If part of your land is in one of these counties then you will qualify for coverage.

You can choose a coverage level of 70%, 75%, 80%, 85% and 90% of the average. The base value for grazing land and hay land vari by county. You may choose a coverage level from 60% to 150% of the base value. Improved pastures can be considered hay fields if you intend to cut for forage at least one time. You are not required to insure all acres, only the acres that are important to your grazing or hay program.

Texas is a rainfall index state. If you have grazingland or hayland in Oklahoma you will have a vegetative index. When you fill out the USDA decision support tool, please remember that if you are in Texas, you must insure in at least 2 intervals for grazingland or hayland. If you are in Oklahoma you will be using the vegetative index you may insure in a least 1 interval.
